"Breathing is something many people take for granted. However, in Canada, 3.8 million people over the age of one are living with asthma and 2.0 million are living with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), both of which can impact a person’s ability to breathe. Individuals living with asthma or COPD may experience impaired participation in daily life, school, work, and social activities. Collectively, there is also an impact in terms of lost productivity and health care costs, especially considering the increasing prevalence of both asthma and COPD"--Executive summary, p. 1.
