5203 |a“An apparatus has been constructed for studying the adsorption of Kr on finely divided materials of low as well as high specific surface areas, in the low pressure range, < 1 mmHg, at -196 °C. The apparatus is designed to handle four samples at a time. The use of a thermistor in measuring the low pressures to a high accuracy is found to offer several advantages over the conventional methods of measuring pressures. The adsorption isotherms have been used to calculate the specific surface areas of powders by the B.E.T. method. The applicability of the Harkins-Jura equation for the determination of the surface areas has also been investigated"--Abstract, p. i.
