"The material in this publication was developed originally as part of a companion document to the Ontario Indian Housing Council Residential Building Code for Indian Reserves, 1982 edition. It was intended to upplement and complement the Code in order to assist homeowners, builders and band councils who may not have ready access to professional assistance to understand the requirements of the Code. This publication contains that portion of the material which applies without change (other than article numbers) or with very little change, to Part 9 of the National Building Code of Canada, 1980 edition. It is provided for the benefit of Indian reserves using, or desiring to use, the National Building Code."--Introduction.
