Experiments were carried out with two drying devices to see if a simple process would prove capable of handling these requirements satisfactorily. A system employing infrared heaters, with a face area just equal to that of the bottom of a vibrating conveyor over which they were suspended, was found capable of removing an average of 13.6 pounds (6.2 kg) of water for an average feed rate of 275 pounds (124 kg).
