"The objective of this paper is to illustrate, by means of four case studies, public participation in the Canadian Environmental Assessment and Review Process. The case studies, involving different development proposals in geographically distinct areas of Canada include a uranium hexafluoride refinery, hydrocarbon exploration in the Arctic, a port expansion and a highway project. In each instance, the public has played a significant role in influencing the development proposal."--Intro.
