520 |a“Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) conducted stakeholder engagement sessions in Nunavut in March and April of 2017 to broaden our understanding of Inuit interest, availability and preparedness for employment in government in the territory of Nunavut. This research is part of ESDC’s ongoing work related to the Nunavut Inuit Labour Force Analysis (NILFA), which is one of Canada’s responsibilities under Article 23 of the Nunavut Inuit Land Claims Agreement (Nunavut Agreement). NILFA research is designed to support the development of Inuit Employment Plans (IEPs) and pre-employment training plans (PETPs). This paper is a summary report of what we heard from stakeholders during our engagement sessions. In writing this report, we have endeavoured to accurately summarize the experiences of participants and capture ideas for what can be addressed to improve the representation rate for Inuit in the government. The suggestions and opinions presented in this report are meant to reflect the views of the participants and should not be considered ESDC’s or the NILFA-TWG’s recommendations”--p. 5, 9.
