520 | |a“The Classification of Occupations presented in this volume is designed for use in the Ninth Census of Canada, 1951. It consists of 16 divisions or major groups, 21 sub-groups (only 3 divisions are sub-divided), 280 occupation classes, and approximately 14,000 occupational titles. The occupational titles found in this edition are a revision and expansion of terms which appeared in previous census classifications and are based chiefly on experience resulting from their use in the coding of census occupation returns. In addition, much valuable material was obtained from the United States Dictionary of Occupational Titles. The Classification of Occupations, although complete in itself, is designed for use in conjunction with its companion volume the "Standard Industrial Classification Manual"”--Introd., p. [5]. |
