Serum sorbitol dehydrogenase activity as an indicator of chemically-induced liver damage in rainbow trout / D.G. Dixon, P.V. Hodson and K.L.E. Kaiser. : En13-5/85-66E-PDF
"This paper reports on an investigation of the enzyme serum corbital dehydrogenase (SSDH) as a fast response indicator of liver damage in trout when exposed to organic contaminants by either waterborne chemicals or intraperitoneal injection. It was found that SSDH levels in blood could: i) easily be measured; ii) were unaffected by storage of serum for 30 days or more; iii) were linearly correlated with toxicant dose (exposure) of fish; iv) provide an early indication of liver damage; v) may be useful to assess the impact of chemical contaminants on fish'--Exec. summary.
