520 |a"The recent invasion of Canadian waters by Eurasian watermilfoil has resulted inincreased use of the herbicide 2,4'—D and increased public concern with the safety of such chemical control measures. This study was an Environment Canada response to such concern expressed in areas as diverse as the Trent-Rideau-Severn waterway and the Okanagan Lakes in British Columbia. Our study was designed to determine the fate and impact of the butoxyethyl ester and I N,N-dimethylarnine formulations of 2,4“-D. The ester is the only approved formulation in Canada for aquatic use, and the amine was being considered by Agriculture Canada as a replacement. This report summarizes two previous reports and is intended as a synopsis of Environment Canada's research on 2,4-D in artificial pond ecosystems"--Exec. summary.
