"This report presents information on the federal government’s policy on Indian residential schools, with a focus on the years from 1920 to 1975. A brief chronology of policy aspects of the history of Indian residential schools is presented in Appendix A. Information for this paper was drawn primarily from files on residential schools still heldby the Department.
