"This project was commissioned by the Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development to provide the Royal Commission on Aboriginal Peoples information concerning the course and content of federal government policies toward Indian, Métis and Inuit peoples. To accomplish this, several qualified academics were asked to prepare studies on the history of the relations between Aboriginal peoples and the Canadian government from 1755 to the present"--p.
