"During 1932 the Bow river and its tributaries and the Highwood river in southern Alberta were subject to extremely high water run-off conditions. Heavy rain began to fall on certain areas of the basins on May 31 and continued until June 3. Peak stages of the floor had passed all points as far east as Calgary by early morning June 3. In comparison with previous floods, the run-off on the Bow and Elbow rivers at Calgary and the Highwood river near Aldersyde was much greater than for any flood during the past 30 years, but apparently not of the major character that may yet be possible. a close study of the few precipitation records at hand will show this"--Introd., p. 3.
