5200 |a"The constant use of large quantities of pentachlorophenol (PCP) and 2,3,4,6-tetrachlorophenol as wood preservatives by the lumber industries in the lower mainland area of British Columbia has created a threat to the water quality in the Fraser River Estuary. Other studies have already indicated that these as well as other chlorophenols are entering the Fraser River and are being accumulatedin the biota. In order to maintain water quality and preserve fishery in that area, routine monitoring of environmental samples for chlorophenols has been required. This interlaboratory QA study establishes the degree of comparability of phenol results among the laboratories involved in analyzing samples from Fraser River Estuary"--Management perspective.
