"Crested wheatgrass (Agropyron cristatum (Linnaeus) Gaertner) is one of the most recommended tame grass species for Southwest Saskatchewan because of its drought tolerance and ability to withstand heavy grazing (Smoliak et al. 1981). However, productivity of introduced forages can decline over time typically due to diminished soil nutrient availability as the stand ages coupled with poor forage management"--Overview, p. 1.
