"Current methods of surveying bird populations in forests require expert observers with excellent hearing ability. As many monitoring requirements can be met by species presence/absence data and indices of population density, we tested the potential of audio recordings to supply such data by comparing birds heard on recordings with field observations made at the same time or at different times"--Abstract.
