"This essay concerns the culture historical antecedents, during the second half of the seventeenth century, of the ultimate demise of the Ontario Iroquoians as viable, identifiable communities in a much later period, the last fifty years of the nineteenth century. The focus of the discussion will be on the refugee descendents of the three Iroquoian confederacies known to the officials of New France as the Huron, Petun, and Neutral"--p. [1].
