"Recent advances in the study of eutrophication include the improvement of Vollenweider's original phosphorus-loading—mean depth relationship to take into account the water retention time of the lake. In addition, the relationship between phosphorus loading and phosphorus concentration has been investigated, and correlations between phosphorus loading and primary production for the Great Lakes and between spring phosphorus concentration and summer chlorophyll concentration for a wide variety of lakes have been developed"--Abstract.
