"In general, the activists of the Six Nations people concentrate on broad claims to "special status"; they prefer to be recognized as "Allies and Friends" of the British Sovereign. Two court cases, Sero v, Gault (1921) and Logan v. Styres et al (1959), have confirmed the Six Nations people in Canada as British subjects. By extension of the Canadian Citizenship Act, 1947, they are Canadian citizens. In spite of all this, the activists maintain their stand, and identify the Indian Act as official proof of special status"--p. 2.
