The first paper "is one result of the 1970 destruction of Ottawa's Capitol theatre, a movie palace built in 1920. ... The investigation includes a general discussion of the movie palace phenomenon and the major developments in the evolution of motion picture exhibition that contributed to the building of movie palaces ... [The second paper describes] approximately 200 glass objects, mostly bottles for wine, snuff or medicine, [that] were recovered from the Acadian townsite of Beaubassin, Nova Scotia. The settlement was occupied by the French from the 1670s to about 1750, and by the British from the 1750s to the early 1800s. The French occupation is represented by fragments of bottles, tumblers and stemware bowls; the British period by bottles, a small amount of plain stemware and a decanter stopper ... [The third paper concerns] Samuel Hughes (1853-1921) [who] as MP for Lindsay and later for Victoria and Haliburton from 1892 to 1921, epitomized the strong pro-imperialist sentiment which characterized central Ontario in the late 19th and early 20th centuries"--Abstracts, p 7, p.128, p. 144
