"As part of its oversight role, the Standing Senate Committee on National Finance considered the Supplementary Estimates (C), 2017–18, which were tabled in the Senate on February 13, 2018 and referred to our committee for study on February 15, 2018. These supplementary estimates request Parliament’s approval for an additional $4.0 billion in voted expenditures and lower forecasted statutory expenditures by $336 million. In order to examine the Supplementary Estimates (C), 2017–18, our committee held three meetings and questioned officials of eight organizations that are requesting total appropriations of approximately $3.1 billion, which is 78% of the total voted amount requested in the Supplementary Estimates (C), 2017-18"--Executive summary, p. 2.
