"A system for predicting density of bird migration was developed for use in reducing the number of in-flight bird-strikes (collisions between birds and aircraft) near Canadian Forces Base Cold Lake, in east-central Alberta. Migration forecasts were based on known migration density patterns, known correlations between weather and migration density, and the local weather forecast"--Abstract.
