520 | 3 |a"Common Loons on lakes of the Wabigoon-English River system, northwestern Ontario, were adversely affected by unnatural, unpredictable water-Ievel fluctuations and turbidity, and by mercury contamination. Extensive, man-induced water-level changes resulted in increased desertion and predation of clutches. Increasing turbidity resulted primarily in a decrease in the number of potential territories occupied.
