"Ekos Research was hired by the Joint Human Resource Development (JHRD) - Residential Renovator Committee of the Canadian Home Builders' Association to collect information to help facilitate and guide the design and implementation of human resource development strategies in the renovation industry. The three major objectives of the research included: 1) providing a profile of Canadian renovators and renovation businesses; 2) describing the attitudes and behaviour of renovators in the area of training and human resource development; and 3) obtaining the opinions of renovators on the need to increase the level of professionalism in the industry and about the potential methods to achieve this objective"--Introduction, p. vii.
