520 |a"Concerns have been raised about the status of northern populations of Common Eider (Somateria mollissima) following recently reported declines. The borealis subspecies breeds in the eastern Canadian Arctic and is heavily harvested in winter in southwest Greenland. Baseline surveys of eider colonies were conducted in 1980 in Ungava Bay, northern Québec. In 2000, we resurveyed four archipelagos along the west coast of Ungava Bay to determine population trends for the 1980-2000 period and to produce population estimates for each archipelago"--Summary.
