520 |a"This paper represents the first stage of a research project to develop and analyse social indicators in education. The basic premise upon which educational indicators are developed is that retention rates or level of completion rates are insufficient measures of educational progress. Because the education system imparts varying amounts of different qualities to each individual the emphasis is placed upon considerations of measurement of these qualities. Given this approach social indicators in education can then be considered as the attributes or skills that the individual internalizes as a result of the education system"--Abstract.
