"The rapidly-accelerating pace of development of water resources in Canada leads to growing demands for more complete and more accurate information on hydrological and geomorphological processes in streams and water sheds. As time goes on, the availability of basic sediment data becomes more and more important in the planning and design of water development projects. To cater to the growing demands for sediment data, a comprehensive sediment survey program is vital; with emphasis particularly on alluvial regions of the country"--Abstract.
