"Three years of monthly wet-only and bulk deposition samples were collected at Woodbridge, Ontario. Results indicate that bulk deposition exceeded wet deposition and that the ratio of wet to bulk deposition varied with each parameter. Wet deposition of sulphate and nitrogen accounted for about 80% to 90% of the bulk deposition. Correlation analyses suggested that wet-only samples were influenced by man-made emissions, whereas bulk samples were influenced by windblown dust and organic debris. In the absence of a practical and reliable technology to monitor dry deposition routinely, the merits of bulk samplers in atmospheric deposition studies have yet to be ascertained"--Abstract, p. v.
