"In this paper, saving rates and their interest rate elasticities are estimated using a multi-period life cycle model. It is shown that assumptions concerning the age-time profile of individual earnings and their effects on the lifetime budget constraint can have as much impact on saving rates and their interest rate elasticities as the choice of functional form and parameter values of the individual's lifetime utility function"--Abstract.
