However, a survey of scientific experts, carried out by Forestry Canada, sheds considerable light on the potential effects. Firstly, the results of this survey are used to identify the risk of forest damage without further pollution controls, and the expected forest productivity benefits of two alternative pollution control programs. Secondly, the relationship between these forest productivity changes and the future commercial timber harvest is explored.
