Bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate / Government of Canada, Environment Canada, Health Canada. : En40-215/37E-PDF
"Bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate [also known as di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate or DEHP], a branched-chain dioctyl ester of phthalic acid, is the most important phthalate plasticizer used in Canada. In 1991, production of bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate in Canada totalled approximately 5 kilotonnes (kt) and an additional 5 kt were imported. Bis(2-ethylhexyl)phthalate is also imported into the country in plasticized polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and in plastic products. Although quantitative data are very limited, bis(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate is released into the Canadian environment as a result of its manufacture and its industrial uses"--Synopsis, page v.
