"In Budget 2018, the Government of Canada announced an investment of $1.3 billion to protect Canada’s nature legacy. It also committed that, by 2020, at least 17 per cent of terrestrial areas and inland water and 10 per cent of coastal and marine areas will be conserved through networks of protected areas and other effective area-based conservation measures. With the Oceans Protection Plan, the Nature Legacy will ensure healthier habitats for species at risk and improve biodiversity. This guide was developed to ensure a strong and consistent corporate identity for Nature Legacy. The guidelines are presented as well as a series of examples governing the proper use of the brand’s elements. Environment and Climate Change Canada is responsible for developing this manual and any advice regarding its implementation"--Introduction, page iv.
