5203 |a"A study of solid-liquid separation was initiated by CANMET in 1976 with the aim of improving coal-cleaning processes and alleviating environmental damage by the mining and processing industries. This report is one of a series to be published on solid-liquid separation. The aim is to explore the fields of flocculation and agglomeration, thickening and clarification, and filtration. Filtration is one of the most widely used unit operations and its field of application is as diverse as the industries applying it. The subject is being covered in two reports, the present one being devoted to filters and filter media, and the second, to follow, will review filtration theory. It is believed that these publications should be of help to those faced with the selection of filters and filter media for particular applications"--Abstract, p. i.
