Suspended sediment effect on turbulent diffusion / by Y. Lam Lau and Vincent H. Chu. : En13-5/87-11E-PDF

"When an open-channel flow carries sediment in suspension, its flow characteristics are different from a similar flow which carries no sediment. This report demonstrates for the first time, that the mixing characteristics are different. It shows that the rate at which a pollutant diffuses can be significantly reduced when the concentration of suspended sediments is large"--Management perspective.
