"The pressure distribution within a continuously evacuated, consumable electrode arc furnace was determined when a variable leak was placed in the melting region of the furnace. This pressure distribution agreed both with that obtained from a simplified calculation based on the kinetic theory of gases and with that obtained during the melting of mild steel electrodes"--Abstract.
