"Complete chemical and physical analytical services are provided by CANMET for departmental and other coal projects, with files dating back to 1910. As well, CANMET (the former Mines Branch) has historically represented Canada's coal and coke quality assessment. As a result there is a steady demand within Canada and from abroad for data and information on the quality of Canadian coals. To meet these needs a series of CANMET reports are published as supplements to the "Analysis Directory of Canadian Commercial Coals". These reports have been published at various intervals since the original issue in 1948 (1, 2, 3, 4, 5). This supplement covers analyses of coals sampled by CANMET staff in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia in 1982. All major coal producing sites were sampled, although not all saleable products could be sampled"--Introduction, page 1.
