"Estuaries are numerous along the coastal zone of Atlantic Canada. They are found in association with cliffs, bays, lagoons, barrier ponds, salt marshes, mudflats, sandy and rocky beaches, islands, sandflats, and coastal bogs. ... Atlantic Canada is characterized by many small, protected estuaries. The Miramichi estuary of New Brunswick, the Antigonish estuary of Nova Scotia, and the Cardigan estuary of Prince Edward Island are some examples."--page 4.
