"When you stroll on a beach in many coastal areas especially in New Brunswick, you can observe peat cliffs. Although these bogs are not really a typical coastal ecosystem as one would expect, they occur commonly in New Brunswick in close relationship with salt marshes, beaches, and estuaries. Coastal bogs used to be where the sea is now. Bogs that extended into the sea diminished as the result of gradually rising sea-levels that eroded their shores."--page 5.
