"The purpose of this study is to analyze the interrelationships among four key economic concepts. Specifically, the analysis is an examination of the determinants of the relationships among and the interpretations of l) productivity, 2) trade performance, 3) real income and, 4) competitiveness. The interrelationships among these concepts are considered from both theoretical and empirical perspectives and their implications - as they relate to public policy - are discussed"--Introduction, p.
