520 |a"A type of ion exchange chromatography was employed to extract organic colouring matter from natural waters. Infra-red spectroscopy of the extracts in KBr discs showed them to be markedly similar to organic matter studied by other workers using different extraction procedures. Such groups as hydroxyl, C=C, C=O, carboxyl and CH were present. Further studies using the described extraction technique as well as the direct measurement of infra-red spectra of aqueous direct solutions are recommended"--Abstract.
