"Growth of arsenopyrite crystals was attempted by the closed-tube iodine vapour transport technique. It was necessary to choose the conditions of synthesis properly, or else loellingite and pyrrhotite would form in association with arsenopyrite. Indeed, the transported products always contained at least a trace of loellingite or pyrrhotite. Small but fairly well-shaped arsenopyrite crystals with dimensions up to 0.3 x 0.1 x 0.1 mm were obtained. It has not been possible, up to the present time, to obtain large single crystals: the product has generally consisted of agglomerated, dendritic crystals with dimensions of up to 2 mm"--Abstract, page i.
