"Fluvial lakes are hydro-dynamically complex systems which share characteristics of both lentic and lotic systems. The challenge, for limnologists, is to understand how this unique combination of lentic and lotic influences interacts with landscape-driven processes to produce the complex spatial and temporal mosaic of physico-chemical environments typical of such lakes"--Abstract.
