Fishery and stock status of the sea scallop (Placopecten magellanicus) from the Southern Gulf of St. Lawrence to 2016. : Fs70-6/2019-006E-PDF

“The sea scallop fishery in the southern Gulf of St. Lawrence is mostly a supplementary fishery to the lobster, herring and groundfish fisheries. Scallops are harvested with mobile gear (drag) using small vessels. In Fisheries and Oceans Canada (DFO) Gulf Region there are over 700 commercial scallop fishing licences, although many are inactive. Almost all scallop harvesters hold more than one fishing licence"--Context, page [1].
