Organic geochemistry of bog drainage waters / by Richard A. Bourbonniere. : En13-5/87-133E-PDF

"This paper deals with the potential impact of dissolved organic materials in bog drainage waters from two sites in eastern Canada, as viewed from a geochemical and environmental perspective. Variations in abundance of three acidic and two neutral organic fractions are used to propose the changes which may occur if the natural drainage of the study sites were mechanically amended. Potential effects identified include possible increases in biochemical oxygen demand, changes in organic contribution to acidity, and changes in metal complexation capacity. The severity of these potential impacts depends in each case on the relative discharge or capacity of the receiving waters compared to the discharge of amended bog drainage"--Abstract.
