"The objective of this paper is to describe the interpretation of a tracer experiment conducted under conditions of natural groundwater flow. This type of experiment is, by a large margin, the most difficult type to conduct in fractured rock. To the authors knowledge, there are no other examples in the literature of a successfully completed test of this type. The results show that the tracer plume exhibits significant spreading in directions deviating away from the mean groundwater flow direction. Quantifying this lateral spreading will lead to better predictions of contaminant pathways and groundwater velocities in fractured rock"--Management perspective.
