"Toxic sites were identified using BEAST methodology, which involves the use of multivariate techniques using data on the physical and chemical attributes of the sediment and overlying water, and the functional responses of benthic invertebrates in laboratory toxicity tests. Data from test sites were compared to biological criteria developed for the Laurentian Great Lakes"--Abstract.
