"In April 2011, Chile, Colombia, Mexico and Peru signed a presidential declaration that established the Pacific Alliance as a trade bloc and regional integration initiative. […] According to Global Affairs Canada, in June 2017, Canada was among the first countries invited to become an associate member of the Pacific Alliance, a process that involves the negotiation of a free trade agreement (FTA) with the four countries as a bloc"--Introduction, page 3.
