5203 |a"An analytical model of time-dependent settling in a suspension of finite depth was presented. The results were compared against data on single grain settling of fine sediments from experiments in settling cylinders, where changes in total concentration and grain size spectra were measured. The model was then used with data from the settling of flocculated suspensions to investigate the rate at which particles go into floc formation. It was found that the rate of flocculation was approximately proportional to the second power of the concentration"--Abstract.
