"In the summer of 1978 an inventory of historic structures in the vicinity of lock stations along the Trent-Severn Waterway was compiled. Field investigations were combined with archival research to provide a visual and written record of extant structures of historic significance. The more important features have been detailed in this report. The photographs and descriptions of heritage structures are preceded in the report by an analysis of their overall significance."--page xi.
