"Formerly, and still to a large extent, recorded information was managed and used in hard-copy form. The introduction of new information technologies, the move towards their integration in recent years, and the striving for a paperless office, have brought to the fore a number of important legal issues. Information professionals would be well-advised to become aware of these issues, and how to address them both from a professional point of view and from the need to integrate legal issues into their system development methodology. The area of office automation offers a particular challenge because it has only now reached the stage of integration, and because it has traditionally relied most heavily on paper"--Abstract.
