5203 |a"Tests were conducted in a towing tank on five P-63 sediment samplers fitted with carefully selected nozzles. Statistical analyses of the test data were conducted. It was shown that individual samplers can be calibrated with reasonable certainty but that the variability of calibrations from sampler to sampler can be unacceptably high. It was further shown that the P-63 sampler over-samples at low velocities and under-samples at medium to high velocities. Normal fabrication variances in nozzle geometry do not affect sampler performance"--Abstract.
